2009-2010

In 2009-2010, the ERSE awarded 6 projects to IBERDROLA:

Compressed Air Audits

The intangible measure name as "Compressed Air Audits" intends to promote the energetic efficiency of the use of compressed air in the automotive industry and it consists in:

  • Creating telephone hotlines to provide clarifications to all those that are interested in this issue;
  • Creating and distributing the promotional material of this measure;
  • Working with the Business Association and Auditing and Industrial Maintenance companies;
  • Performing 25 specific audits to compressed air systems of the companies of the segment;
  • Analysing the results of audits and benchmarking of audited companies;
  • The elaboration and implementation of efficiency improvement plans in compressed air installations of audited companies (PMEI);
  • Checking results gathered in audited companies;
  • Holding specific Workshops of good practices for the energetic efficiency in the segment.

Free cooling

The "Free cooling in Technical Areas" measure was approved by the ERSE for the years of 2009 and 2010, as one of the tangible measures for the Trade and Services segment.

This measure has the main goal of promoting the reduction of energy consumption in refrigeration systems, through the use of outdoor air.

Main results achieved:

  • Creation of telephone hotlines to provide clarifications to all those that are interested in this issue;
  • Creation and distribution of promotional material of this measure;
  • Previous visits to 29 technical rooms;
  • Installation of 30 Free cooling units;

Total consumption avoided with device installation was of 2.655 MWh/year.

UP

Binary Controllers

The "Binary Controllers" measure is intended to intervene at the level of driving force drives, by promoting the use of smart control systems that, by regulating the electrical parameters of motor inlets, will raise the efficiency levels of these machines, supplying only the necessary energy to perform this task.

The objective is to simultaneously contribute towards the promotion of this innovative technology and raise awareness of companies to the good practices of energy efficiency in applications that have high energy consumption in the industry.

Main results achieved:

  • Creation and distribution of promotional material of this measure;
  • Working with the Business Association and Auditing and Industrial Maintenance companies;
  • 11 Devices was installed;
  • Average consumption avoided per device was of 27.7 KWh/year;
  • Total consumption avoided with device installation was of 3.074 MWh/year.

Training for consumers with special needs

The intangible measure of IBERDOLA approved by ERSE for the years of 2009 and 2010, named as "Training for consumers with special needs" had the main goal of encouraging the change of the behaviour of consumers with special needs, in order for them to reduce their electricity consumption as a result of adopting better energy practices and raising the awareness for efficient energy consumption.

This measure focuses mainly in sensitizing the participants for the unnecessary energy consumptions and respective high costs, making them aware of the role and impact of energy in their lives. The target audience for this measure is formed by all organisations and associations working to integrate people with disabilities in our society.

Main results achieved:

  • 45 Training sessions in 32 Institutions from North to South of the country;
  • Distribution of training support material and provision of informative content via website, that was specifically created for this purpose;
  • We reached about 14.000 direct and indirect audience.

UP

Light Flow Regulators

The "Light Flow Regulators" measure was approved by the ERSE for the years of 2009 and 2010, and had the following main goals:

  • To promote the installation of voltage regulators in the lighting networks of companies of the Industry and Agriculture segment, in order to improve the efficiency of electrical power consumption in lighting;
  • To make up for the scarce information on the technical-economic advantages to be gained from installing these devices, by promoting them to the managers and responsible personnel of companies and thus promote the roll-out of this measure on a national scale.

Main results achieved:

  • Creation and distribution of promotional material of this measure;
  • Contacts with the Energy Auditing and Maintenance companies, with activity in the industrial segment;
  • 450 Previous technical visits and preliminary audits;
  • Installation of 66 device units;
  • Total consumption avoided with device installation was of 2.186 MWh/year;
  • Disclosure of achieved results, namely through seminars organized by the Industrial Associations and Academic Associations.

UP

Replacement of Dichroic bulbs with LED bulbs

The "Replacement of Dichroic Bulbs with LED bulbs" measure was approved by the ERSE for the years of 2009 and 2010 ” had the goal of installing LED bulbs instead of dichroic halogen bulbs, allowing a reduction of about 80% in electric power consumptions and in CO2 emissions, as well as a significant reduction in maintenance costs.

It also intended to promote and disseminate good practices of Energy Efficiency in the trade and services segment.

Main results achieved:

  • Creation and distribution of promotional material of this measure;
  • Installation of 14.675 device units;
  • There was an average reduction of 90% in electric power consumption;
  • Total consumption avoided with device installation was of 3.892 MWh/year;
  • Disclosure of achieved results, namely through seminars organized by the Industrial Associations and Academic Associations.
